Driver grilled over abduction of two girls
Two sisters, aged 5 and 9 -years-old were allegedly kidnapped from near Teppakulam in Madurai, on Thursday and their car driver is being inquired in connection with the abduction.

According to police, the sisters Anushree (9) and Jeyashree (5), daughters of Karthick Selvan, a wholesale grocery shop owner at Madurai, had gone to school in the car on Thursday with Pandi, the driver of the family. When the car was passing through Teppakulam road, two men in police uniform, stopped the vehicle and asked several questions to Pandi, which left him in shock. Later, the duo forcibly took away the car along with the two girls in the guise of inquiry.
Pandi immediately returned to his owner’s house and informed about the duo’s act. Following this, the family members along with Pandi rushed to Teppakulam police station and lodged a complaint. During inquiries, police came to know that the two men, were impostors and had kidnapped children.
However, police suspected that Pandi could also be part of the kidnap drama and interrogated him. A special team has been formed to nab the kidnappers.
In another incident, three persons, including a woman, were arrested for trying to sell a newborn boy in Ramanathapuram.
Officials attached to District Child Protection Unit received a video via WhatsApp in which a woman was seen conversing with some persons to sell a newborn. Immediately, the unit volunteers alerted the police, who conducted an inquiry and identified the woman as Banumathi, who runs a home for destitute persons at Aranmanai in Ramanthapuram. During interrogation, she revealed that the baby, which was born out of an illicit affair, was given to her by Senthil Kumar.
