Huge haul of ganja in SUV; 2 held
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) slueths here on Saturday seized 121 kg of ganja that was reportedly transported from Andhra Pradesh to Madurai.

It is said, based on a tip off, the NCB slueths led by DSP P Ravisekaran were waiting at the Samayapuram toll plaza for the vehicle that has been transporting the contraband and started a vehicle check from the morning. Suddenly, they noticed a SUV with the Tamil Nadu registration number bound from Andhra Pradesh. When the officials made a thorough search on the vehicle, they found that there were four bags of ganja concealed in the car. The stuff they seized weighed 121 kg and is valued at Rs 15 lakh.Â
Subsequently, the police arrested two persons who were travelling in the car. They were identified as the notorious ganja peddlers Vino Pandian (38) of Madurai and the driver Sathiyaraj from Sittilapakkam in Chennai.Â

The duo confessed the police that they were transporting the ganja from Andhra Pradesh with a plan to sell them in the Madurai market.Â
Later, they were produced in the court and then lodged in the central prison here. Meanwhile, the police, who had information about ganja sale at Bhima Nagar in Tiruchy City rushed to the spot and arrested Venkatesh (21) and Mahesh (23), while they were selling the stuff. The police also seized 1.20 kg of ganja from the duo.Â
