55-year-old woman held for selling illicit liquor in Vellore

TASMAC district manager Ravichandran and prohibition AC Jothi jointly raided Muniyamma’s house in Kolakuppam Pudur near Vaniyambadi following complaints that illicit arrack was flowing freely in their area. Officials found Muniyamma selling illicit arrack and handed her over to Vaniyambadi police. 

Similarly, Tirupathi (40) of Mittalam village near Ambur, a milk seller, was found selling liquor purchased in other states in an attempt to earn extra money. He would carry the liquor bottles inside the milk cans and hand them over to customers. Oomarabad police raided his house following complaints and seized 25 liquor bottles from other states. A case has been registered and investigation is under way to find how Tirupathi received liquor from other states. Suspecting that liquor was being brought to the area by outsiders, police have increased the vehicle checks.
