Disqualification case: TTV Dinakaran men hail it as step forward
The recommendation of the single judge of the Madras High Court to refer the petition against the disqualification of 18 AIADMK MLAs supporting sidelined leader TTV Dinakaran is seen as a step forward by them as they feel that the issue had gone to the next level.

The MLAs moved the High Court in the third week of September and the case had seen four adjournments. Since, no stay had been granted to Speaker P Dhanapal’s disqualification order, the 18 MLAs continue to be under suspension.
The MLAs, who accuse Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s camp of delaying the case to remain in power for a few more months, see a ray of hope in the recommendation of the single judge.
Even, if the judge had given a verdict, an appeal to the division bench is inevitable and that could have taken more time, they feel. Once the case is taken up by a three or two-member bench, it is likely to progress fast, Kennedy Mariappan, one of the MLAs said. He also asserted that the verdict would be nothing other than invalidating the order of the Speaker and added that judgment could be expected in a few weeks.
Meanwhile in Tiruchy, TTV Dinakaran claimed on Thursday that their faction has been trying for the AIADMK symbol legally with prompt supporting documents while EPS-OPS group is trying for it through back door.
He was confident of getting the symbol after the legal battle. He further said that they have lodged a complaint against the Chief Minister and his Deputy to the new Governor and appealed to remove them.
“Time has come for them to go home,” Dinakaran stressed. Later, in Thanjavur, he reiterated that the ruling group has lost its majority in the Assembly and so they are using the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to safeguard their government.
