VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan on Friday announced a protest demonstration against the BJP at Karur on October 31, charging the saffron party with attacking his activists, who protested in Karur on October 24.

In a statement here, Thirumavalavan said his party cadre had lodged complaints with the police demanding action on the BJP cadre, who attacked them.
“We held a protest in Karur condemning the verbal attacks of BJP state president Tamilisai Soundarrajan against me,” he said. When the cadre protested, the policemen had arrested them. The police did not stop the BJP activists who attacked the VCK cadre, Thirumavalavan charged and said that the action of the BJP and state police were against democracy.
He said the party would hold protest demonstrations on October 31 against the violence unleashed by the BJP cadre. The VCK and BJP were at loggerheads over Thirumavalavan’s comments on the BJP in the controversy on Vijay starrer Mersal. Tamilisai had alleged that Thirumavalavan was running kangaroo courts and the Dalit leader hit back asking Tamilisai to show the evidence for her charges.
