Salem corporation levies hefty fine on defaulters
The Salem Corporation continued its drive against dengue on Monday and collected a fine amount of Rs 6 lakh from private institutions for breeding dengue causing mosquitoes.

An inspection by a team led by Corporation Commissioner Satheesh at a cinema theatre revealed that water stored in tanks had larvae of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The theatre was fined Rs 2 lakh.
Following similar inspections, a fine of Rs 50,000 was slapped on a private educational institution, one lakh on a private dental college and Rs 2.5 lakh on a petrol bunk.
On Sunday, the civic body collected a hefty fine amount of nearly Rs 25 lakh in Salem.
