    State under BJP control: Stalin

Criticising Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’s assertion that the BJP-led Centre was not exercising its control over his government, DMK working president MK Stalin on Sunday said the situation was such that a Minister in the state cabinet publicly admits that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would take care of everything, including the issue of them securing “Two Leaves” symbol.

Talking to media persons in Kolathur, where he reviewed the electoral roll verification process, Stalin said that there were many examples of the ruling AIADMK prostrating before the BJP-led Centre and surrendering the interests of the state.

Stating that he could list out issues like NEET, Cauvery Management Board constitution and farmers in distress as proof of the state government’s surrender, Stalin referred to state Dairy Development Minister Rajenthira Bhalaji’s tell-all recent public speech and said the situation was such that a Minister publicly admits that Modi was everything to them. “People are aware of it,” the DMK working president remarked, before adding that the DMK, even as a minority government (2006-11 tenure), had successfully completed the full five-year tenure without suffering splits, whereas members of the incumbent AIADMK regime have petitioned the Governor, expressing lack of faith in the Chief Minister.

Describing as ‘painful’ the announcement of the conduct of RK Nagar by-poll by the Election Commission, the Leader of Opposition urged that the election should be conducted only after bringing to book those responsible for rescinding the earlier by-poll.

Recalling the I-T raids on state Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar’s residence, which unearthed the alleged involvement of a few Ministers, including Chief Minister Palaniswami in distribution of cash to voters in RK Nagar, Stalin said that no action has been initiated, not even an FIR registered, against those responsible for rescinding the by-election then.
