BJP refutes Stalin, VCK proxy rule jibe
Reacting to DMK working president MK Stalin’s accusations that a Minister has accepted that a proxy rule of the BJP is on in the state, the national party’s state secretary Vanathi Srinivasan said, “As a senior leader in politics, Stalin should refrain from such accusations against the Centre.” She further demanded the DMK leader to produce evidence for his accusations.

Meanwhile, state BJP unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan took on VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan and refuted the charges levelled by local parties that the BJP was trying to rope in actors, especially Vijay.
Taking a potshot at Thirumavalavan, who said that the BJP was trying to catch actor Vijay for political purpose, Tamilisai said that his opinion was reflecting his experience. “If he wants a piece of land, he will threaten owners for grabbing the lands. He will usually involve in ‘Kangaroo courts’ for his benefits,” she charged.
“The BJP does not have any intention to rope in actor Vijay and it is not only Vijay’s movie, the BJP will register its opinions against any movie, which criticises GST,” she said and added that post-Jayalalithaa, the film fraternity is speaking to its convenience.
She also questioned Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s support for the movie Mersal. “Rahul Gandhi is supporting the movie, but he should remember that thousands of Tamils were killed during the Congress regime at the Centre,” she noted.
Earlier, Thirumavalavan made a tirade against the BJP saying that it is remote controlling the state following a statement made by state Dairy Minister Rajenthira Bhalaji.
Addressing the media at Chennai airport on Sunday, he said, “The minister’s acknowledgement that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is with us is a clear indication that the BJP is controlling the state after the death of former chief minister Jayalalithaa.”
He added that the BJP’s interference in Mersal film is completely unacceptable and it has created unnecessary controversies for the movie. Stating that BJP leaders’ criticism paved the way for publicity of the movie, the VCK chief said that this created a perception among the public that the BJP is doing such kind of things to induct actor Vijay into its fold.
