Four of a family critical after suicide bid over domestic row

Police said Rajathi alias Bagavathi, wife of Janakiraman had consumed soft drink laced with poison after giving the same to her three children (15, 9 and 2 years). 

“Immediately, all of them suffered bouts of vomiting and writhed in pain. On hearing their cries, neighbours came over and rushed them to a private hospital. They were later shifted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) for treatment,” police said. 

Police sources revealed they were all undergoing treatment but are still in a critical condition. “Though preliminary enquiries revealed that Bagavathi took the extreme step due to some family problems, the exact reason behind the suicide bid is not known,” police sources said. 

Race Course police have registered a case of attempt to suicide and further enquiries are on with family members of the victims.
