EPS govt must go for dengue-free Tamil Nadu: MK Stalin
Leader of Opposition MK Stalin on Thursday said the government led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami must fall for putting an end to the dengue threat.
Chennai
Talking to reporters, after inspecting sanitary works in his Kolathur constituency, Stalin said, “For dengue to be eliminated, the government led by Palaniswami should first end.” The DMK working president said the people of the state were suffering mainly because of non-conduct of local body elections.
Stating that the elected representatives of local bodies would have rectified the health and hygiene threats had the elections been held and dengue could have been controlled, the Leader of Opposition said that dengue was spreading across the state as the “horse-trading” AIADMK regime, which was struggling to prove its majority, has been finding ways to defer civic polls in violation of the Madras High Court order.
Asked about Social Welfare Minister Saroja daring him to produce evidence to prove his charges on dengue issue, Stalin said the minister would get sufficient evidence if she visits hospitals in every place and he was also ready to furnish evidence as well. Earlier, the DMK working president said the actual situation on dengue issue could be revealed to the people only if the state government releases a white paper on the same.
When reporters drew his attention to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister making contradictory statements pertaining to dengue death count, Stalin dismissed the query and said they were not bothered about the difference in numbers released by the CM and the ministers and their primary concern was controlling dengue and protecting people’s lives.
