Court nod for RSS rally in Madurai
The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, on Wednesday, gave direction to Deputy Commissioner of Madurai city police to grant permission for RSS rally with a few restrictions.
Madurai
Petitioner Krishnan, in his petition, had stated that the 93rd Foundation Day rally of RSS was planned on October 8 from Madichiyam to Annanagar in Madurai and following the rally a public meeting was planned. Though they had submitted permission letter at Annanagar police station, it was rejected by the police on October 5.Â
The rally and the public meeting were intended to be peaceful events and so the High Court should direct the police department to grant permission for the rally and public meeting, prayed the petitioner.Â
When the petition was heard, on Wednesday, Judge S S Sundar said that Deputy Commissioner of Madurai City Police can grant permission for the peaceful rally of RSS on October 22.Â
Also, the Judge had laid down few restrictions such as RSS members should not carry lathis, sharp weapons and should not raise slogans during the rally.
