When asked about the petition by the Dinakaran group in the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking a direction to grant more time for them to submit documents in support of their claim for the party and symbol, the minister said, even if Dinakaran group was allowed to submit extra documents, they could not stop the Edappadi K Palaniswami group from gaining total control overthe party.

Lok Sabha deputy Speaker M Thambidurai also backed the fisheries minister’s statement, by adding, no one could destroy the party or bring down the government. He also asserted that the AIADMK rule would continue for the next four years.

The EC had fixed the hearing on the dispute for the party and symbol for October 6 and rejected Dinakaran faction’s demand for more time to submit documents. Dinakaran had filed a petition with the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court seeking more time for filing documents since the court had asked the EC to decide the “Two Leaves’ case by October 31.

Three AIADMK allies hit out at CM for permission to RSS rally

Three legislators, who are allies of the AIADMK, on Wednesday hit out at Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for giving permission to RSS rallies and came down heavily on co-operative minister Sellur K Raju for giving consent to inaugurate an RSS rally in Madurai on October 8.

The MLAs, Karunas (Mukkulathor Pulipadai), Thaniyarasu (Kongu Ilaignar Peravai) and Thamimun Ansari (Manithaneya Jananayaga Katchi), who won by contesting under ‘Two Leaves’ symbol, recalled that former CM J Jayalalithaa had refused to give permission for RSS rallies and said Palaniswami, who was claiming to run ‘Amma government’, had given permission for the rallies of the outfit. They said it was a betrayal of the policies of party founder MGR and Jayalalithaa.
