    Aadhaar compulsory for CM health insurance

    The state has issued a public advisory on seeding Aaadhaar with the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS) citing that its use would enhance the accuracy in ascertaining the identities of the beneficiaries at the treatment facilities.

    In a notification, health secretary J Radhakrishnan said, “The Tamil Nadu Health Systems Project (TNHSP) has decided to use Aadhaar for the beneficiaries of the CMCHIS. Beneficiaries, who are in possession of Aadhaar, shall register the number towards their CMCHIS Unique Registration number (URN) for the purpose of his/her identity and authentication thereof.” The CMCHIS District Kiosk will facilitate the enrolment of Aadhaar for such beneficiaries, who are not having it. 

    These beneficiaries, who have enrolled for Aadhaar and have not received their card, should register the 28 digit Aadhaar Enrolment ID printed on the enrolment slip. TNHSP has inorganically seeded the Aadhaar number of a few of its beneficiaries through the State Resident Data Hub (SRDH) set 

    up by Tamil Nadu E-Governance Agency (TNeGA). The inorganically seeded Aadhaar numbers of the CMCHIS beneficiaries shall be obtained by the TNHSP from TNeGA. 

    For the beneficiaries, whose Aadhaar number is not seeded inorganically, TNHSP has proposed to seed the Aadhaar numbers organically through the CMCHIS insurance agency or Third-Party Administrators (TPAs). 

    A circular to all district collectorates is being issued for the awareness of beneficiaries regarding the requirement of Aadhaar for availing of the health care services under CMCHIS, and will be utilised for all activities associated with CMCHIS hereafter. Must for CRS Meanwhile, Aadhaar has been made mandatory for the beneficiaries under Civil Registration System (CRS) as well, and a notification to this effect has been issued by K Kolandaswamy, Director of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. 

    A decision to use Aadhaar number for the CRS program implemented by the state  and similar instructions had been issued to beneficiaries on the lines of CMCHIS.
