Partial relief for Senthil Balaji
Offering partial relief to former Transport Minister Senthil Balaji, the Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the state police not to arrest him till October 3.
Chennai
Justice R Suresh Kumar, before whom the anticipatory bail plea filed by Senthil Balaji came up for hearing, provided relief by passing an interim order to this effect.Â
Apprehending arrest at the hands of the police based on an FIR registered against him for allegedly receiving Rs 95 lakh through his relatives with an assurance of securing jobs to 16 aspirants when he was transport minister, he moved the anticipatory bail.Â
Senthil Balaji had contended that according to the complainant Ganesh Kumar who had collected the Rs 95 lakh, the money was given to Prabhu and Sagayaraj reportedly his relatives, but they were not.Â
Moreover, the complaint was given some 23 months after the money was collected and this must be viewed in the context that he had ceased to be a minister from July 29, 2015, he added.
