Chellappa: I’m not a sleeper cell, but Speaker’s decision not acceptable
The 18 MLAs, who were recently disqualified by the Speaker, were identified by, the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, and so their disqualification is unacceptable, said VV Rajan Chellappa, MLA of Madurai North Constituency, here on Wednesday.
Madurai
Addressing the media at his MLA office, he said that though there is a government existing in the state, it is not functioning properly.
The government officials are not working and also no welfare measures were implemented in the past one month. He also cited that no funds were allotted for his constituency and no roads were laid either.
When asked about the disqualification of MLAs, he replied that the MLAs were identified by Jayalalithaa and their disqualification is unacceptable. They could have been suspended. The suspended MLAs could have been taken back to the party at any time. But, their disqualification had sent them permanently outside the party.
However, even now they have a majority in the Assembly, he added. He said that, the disqualified MLAs were his colleagues and it hurts him as they could not discharge their duties.
When questioned whether he was one of the sleeper cells in the faction of Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, he replied he was not and also said that there are such sleeper cells in the party as claimed by sidelined AIADMK leader TTV Dinakaran.
