Addressing the media, he said, “Many students have been staging protests in a peaceful manner across the state, as a girl student had committed suicide due to failure in the NEET. Over seven crore people in the state are opposing NEET and the government is trying to stifle the voices of agitators by force.”
Stating that a total of 36 students have been jailed in Puzhal prison, Ramakrishnan said that the CPM is registering its strong condemnation against the atrocities of state government and police excess.
CPI accuses state govt of arresting
The Communist Party of India (CPI) on Monday accused the AIADMK government of buckling under pressure from the Centre to arrest agitators, including students, who spearheaded protests against NEET. In a statement, R Mutharasan, state secretary, CPI, condemned the state government for arresting students.
“The arrest of students is a clear indication that the Centre is threatening the state government and in a bid to show allegiance, the Edappadi K Palaniswami, led government has become the puppet of the Centre,” he charged. Mutharasan blamed the government for its complete failure of exempting the NEET.
