According to weathermen, SouthWest monsoon has still been active over Kerala and South interior Karnataka and another cyclonic circulation over Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka currently lies over Gulf of Mannar and neighbourhood. Further, the trough formed on Saturday is running from Rayalaseema to South
Tamil Nadu and as a result, the south parts of the state will receive good rainfall.
A weatherman of RMC said, “The Central and Western regions have been receiving good rain and Dindigul, Coimbatore, Tiruchy and Thiruvannamalai districts experienced heavy rain in the last two days. Since the trough is moving towards the Sothern side over Bay of Bengal, we can expect another spell of heavy rain particularly in Western and South parts.” As far as Chennai region is concerned, there will be heavy rain in isolated places, he added.
K Srikanth, a city-based weather-blogger, said, “Interior Tamil Nadu continues to see thunderstorms light up the skies as places in West interior enjoy some much-needed spell of rain.
Coimbatore, Tiruppur and Nilgiris districts enjoyed a second straight day of good rain.” After being close for the last couple of days parts of Tiruchy district enjoyed very good thunderstorms late in the evening bringing some respite to the people, he added. The North-South trough that runs along the interiors and the cyclonic circulation are present near Comorin (Kanniyakumari) sea, he said.
