A day after the funeral of Anitha, who committed suicide after she could not win a medical seat based on NEET marks, her family also refused government employment to one of her kin. Later, the district collector K Lakshmi Priya spoke to them to accept the government proposition.

Manirathinam also told reporters that there shouldn’t be any more deaths over NEET. “We want to hear from the rural students that they could get medical admission without NEET. The government should exempt NEET for the welfare of rural students like Anitha who had pursued their Class 12 in Tamil medium,” he said, adding, the Collector had promised to pass on the information to the Chief Minister.
