Class 7 girl rebuked by teacher commits suicide in Nellai

The incident happened in the wee hours of Monday when the victim, Farzana( name changed), daughter of an auto driver and studying in a private school at Palayamkottai, had gone to the neighbouring house and jumped off the second floor terrace.

On hearing her screams, her parents and people from neighbouring houses rushed out and found the girl in a pool of blood. She was immediately taken to the Palayamkottai GH but she died on the way. The police, who were informed, carried out investigations and found a suicide note in her house.

Police sources said that she had mentioned the name of a teacher in the note. She had stated that the teacher had scolded her for not performing well in her studies and had asked her to bring her parents to the school on Monday.

Afraid to face the teacher and her inability to handle the situation had forced her to take the extreme step, said the sources. However, Palayamkottai police have visited the school and are probing the incident
