Alleging that the website of the customs department has been down owing to technical snag during the last four days, Vasan said that both exports and imports have been affected as goods were stranded at the country’s ports due to the issue. Claiming that workers and truckers engaged in goods export and import have been affected countrywide, Vasan urged the customs department to immediately set right the snag on its website and not collect any penalty for exports and imports. Asserting that traders and agents need not own up responsibility for the technical snag on customs website, Vasan appealed to the customs and shipping departments to take immediate steps to ensure uninterrupted export and import at the country’s ports.
