TN CM must face floor test in House: CPI

Taking clue from the comments of State Forest Minister, Dindigul C Sreenivasan, that the ruling AIADMK government was a minority government, CPI leader Mutharasan, on Wednesday demanded that the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami prove his majority in the Assembly.

Addressing media persons, Mutharasan quoted the speech of Dindigul Sreenivasan who had recently said that 115 MLAs are supporting the ruling government and only two more are needed for the support. “With money they can buy the remaining two MLAs, he had said.”

Mutharasan said that the comment of the minister proves that the ruling government is a minority government and so the CM should either prove his majority at the assembly or should resign. Governor should call for the assembly and should conduct the vote of strength in the assembly, demanded Mutharasan.

Later, in the day, he participated at an all-party protest organised against the Central Government for its anti-farmers policy. In the protest, he said that former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, had waived the farmers loan but now the ruling AIADMK government is not even providing compensation for the farmers.

Modi government is acting against the interests of farmers and despite knowing this the state government is keeping a studied silence. No word is spoken against the central government by the state government for their antifarmers policy, alleged Mutharasan.

For Central government Tamil Nadu is like a neem fruit which does not taste well and all the policies of the central government are against the welfare of the farmers, said Mutharasan.
