Inflow at Hogenakkal increases

Coracle rides have been temporarily suspended for the second time in the last three weeks as the inflow in River Cauvery touched 11,500 cusecs on Tuesday. This had disappointed several tourists.

PWD officials at Mettur Dam said that there was no increase in the quantity of water released from the two major reservoirs in Karnataka as they were maintained at 10,000 cusecs. They attributed heavy rains and flooding in the catchment areas downstream the reservoirs.
On Tuesday, the water level at the dam was 44.21 feet. Inflow was 7,769 cusecs and discharge was 500 cusecs. On Tuesday morning, there was 14.8 tmc of water in the dam.
