Sources said, a senior professor David Jawahar, son of CPI leader D Pandian, went on a deputation for three years and served as the registrar of Madras University.
After completing his tenure, Professor David Jawahar rejoined duty at the Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) recently. However, the Director of the institution, Dr S Karuthiah Pandian, served him a suspension order citing that he had not properly dealt with PhD applications.
In this backdrop, on Friday, Professor David Jawahar lodged a complaint with the Thuvakudi police station that he was informed that his room at BIM was ransacked and a few documents were taken from there. Subsequently, he wanted to see the footage of CCTV camera installed in front of his room in the institution. He also mentioned in the complaint that he had not been inside the premises for long and he was placed under suspension.
However, making use of his absence as an opportunity, people had gained entry into his room and snooped around.
It is said that there has been an ego clash between the Director Karuthiah Pandian and David Jawahar due to some personal reason. Since Pandian is set to retire shortly, David Jawahar tops in the seniority list to be appointed in the post.
In order to prevent him from occupying the post, Karuthiah Pandian has been making all efforts, said professors close to David Jawahar. However, the Director was not available for comment.
