The actor turned showstopper at Murasoli’s platinum jubilee celebrations at Kalaivanar Arangam when he said, “Some people asked me if I was attending the function to join kazhagam (DMK). Let me reveal something to them. I received a telegram in 1983 from Karunanidhi. He had asked me then why don’t I join DMK?”

“I neither had the courage to respond to the telegram nor reveal it to anyone. He (Karunanidhi) was mature enough to not ask me again. I came to this function, expecting the same maturity and respect,” clarified Kamal. The actor, whose opening remark of the keynote address was “ seyal thalaivar (working  president), the epithet commonly used to address Stalin, wondered why some people were getting excited by his participation in the Murasoli jubilee.
