Coimbatore
Sleuths from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Cochin, with support from the Coimbatore City Police and central and state intelligence agencies searched the houses of two youth in Coimbatore city late on Thursday evening as the duo allegedly posted messages in the social media in support of the banned international terror outfit ISIS.
It is learnt that S Abdullah (27) from Azath Nagar and Abdul Rahman (25) from Kottaipudur near GM Nagar in Ukkadam allegedly posted such messages on their Facebook pages, following which the NIA started closely monitoring their posts. Thursday’s raids were based on a search warrant NIA had obtained from a court as they suspected that the duo could be ISIS sympathisers.
Abdullah, who has completed Class 12, is working at a mobile phone shop, while his friend Rahman has completed his post-graduation. The two youth and their families were also reportedly questioned by the NIA sleuths.
