Withdraw subsidy rules: TNCC
Condemning the Centre for proposing to do away with LPG subsidy, TNCC president Su Thirunavukkarasar on Tuesday urged the Union government to immediately withdraw the new guidelines formulated to avail benefits under the Food Security Act.

Thirunavukkarasar also urged the democratic forces in the state to unite to fight the anti-people BJP and AIADMK governments. The TNCC chief said the new rules have been thrust on people in such a way that the majority would not be able to avail the benefits of the Act. Comparing the current crude price and excise duty on fuel with that of 2014, the TNCC chief said the BJP regime at the Centre has made it a policy to do away with subsidies, which would only affect the people.Â
Accusing the BJP of trying to undo the Food Security Act, a dream scheme of Congress president Sonia Gandhi from the beginning, Thirunavukkarasar said that there is little hope that the AIADMK would stop the anti-people activities of the BJP.Â
Remarking that the AIADMK regime has surrendered itself to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the TNCC chief said the people are not confident that the Food Minister, who assures that the new guidelines would not be enforced here, would be able to drop the changes.Â
