According to RMC, the South-West monsoon, which was by and large weak in the last few days has become active again. Further, a new trough in sea is now seen from the West-Central Bay to Comorin (Kanniyakumari) area across South-West Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu coast.
A weatherman of RMC said, “Since there is a new trough over the Bay of Bengal, there is a high possibility for rains in the Southern parts of the state. At the same time, the Northern parts will record mild rainfall. Chennai city will just be cloudy and experience scattered rains.” Meanwhile, weather bloggers also added, “Earlier, the monsoon was weak in Kerala. However, it moved to South a few days ago. For the third straight day, Tamil Nadu has been receiving rain due to convective thunderstorms on Sunday.”
Some of the interior districts that have enjoyed good rains include Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri. While parts of Tirupur, Coimbatore and Erode recorded spells of rains, southern part of Virudhunagar along with Thoothukudi district recorded rain in just one or two places, he added.
