Vasan demands new solar power policy
Comparing solar power production in Tamil Nadu and other states, Vasan said that solar power generation was low in the state owing to lack of adequate support from the government.
Chennai
TMC leader GK Vasan has asked the government to release a new solar policy statement to encourage interested private players and augment solar power generation in the state.
Comparing solar power production in Tamil Nadu and other states, Vasan said that solar power generation was low in the state owing to lack of adequate support from the government.
Claiming that other states were readily providing land and paying fair price while procuring electricity from the private solar power producers, Vasan said the state government should release a new solar power policy to encourage private players in the field.
They should be provided land readily and paid fair price for solar power purchased from them. He suggested the government to urge the institutions and departments under it to use solar power to the maximum. He further said that use of solar power would also bring down power purchases bill from other states.
