One held for illicit sale of liquor
Chintadripet police arrested a man for illegal possession of liquor. The accused Palaiyam (28) from the locality was found selling liquor on Mukkiyamman Koil Street and a few 180ml bottles of liquor were seized from him. Palaiyam was arrested.

In an unrelated arrest, New Washermenpet Police held five men for allegedly being involved in gambling. Based on a tip-off that gambling takes place in a private club on T H Road, a special team led by inspector conducted a raid at the club and arrested Parthiban (43) and Dhanapal (43) of Tiruvottiyur, Thyagu (53) of Tondiarpet, Mohan (53) and Raj (42) of New Washermenpet. A cash of Rs 4,900 and three decks of cards were seized from them. All of them are remanded in judicial custody.
