    Man steals baby in Tirupati, hands it over to Namakkal police

    A man and his girl friend from Namakkal handed over a nine-month-old boy baby they had stolen at Tirupati on June 14 to the police.

    The abductors M Ashok, 24, of Singalanthapuram village near Belukkuruchi and P Thangayee were arrested based on their confession. Efforts are under way to hand over the baby to rightful parents. 

    The Namakkal police said that the baby was the fourth child of S Venkatesa (28) of Saipuram near Uruvakonda in Anantapur District, Andhra Pradesh. The man had gone to Tirupati, on June 14 along with his family. They were sleeping in front of the temple complex when the couple from Namakkal stole the baby. Venkatesa lodged a complaint with the Tirumala Police. The CCTV footage retrieved from the locality showed the couple stealing the baby. 

    Meanwhile on Friday, Ashok surrendered before the Belukurichi police station in  Namakkal, confessed the crime and handed over the baby. 

    The baby was taken to the Rasipuram GH and doctors said that it was in sound health. He will soon be handed over to his parents.
