DGP TK Rajendran gets 2-year extension
DGP TK Rajendran who was to retire from service as DGP, Law and Order (In-charge), has been given a two-year extension in service and will continue as state DGP (Law and Order).

As news spread regarding the extension of service for the state’s top cop, several senior police officers, including City Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan called on the DGP at his office on Friday evening to congratulate the 1984-batch IPS officer.
Commenting on his extension, DGP Rajendran said, “I’m glad to have got two more years to serve the people of TN.” While several top police officers, including the senior-most IPS officer in TN cadre, DGP Archana Ramasundaram were in the race for the top post, sources said that the EPS government chose to extend his term.
A native of Tiruvannamalai who holds an MA degree, Rajendran has held several key posts in the state police during his illustrious tenure including the post of Chennai CPC. He has also served as the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order during his three-decade-old stint with the TN police.
Meanwhile, a government release announced the promotion of top police officers. The ADGP promotees are Karunasagar, IG, Modernisation promoted and posted as ADGP, Establishment(upgraded post), Rajeev Kumar, IG, Establishment, promoted and posted as ADGP, Modernisation (upgraded post), Sandeep Rai Rathore, IG, CSG, promoted and posted as ADGP, STF, Erode, Abhay Kumar Singh, IG/Addl.
CoP, Traffic, Chennai, promoted and posted as ADGP/ Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), TNPL, Pugalur, Karur (upgraded post), and K Vanniya Perumal, IG, Training, promoted and posted as ADGP/CVO, Metropolitan Transport Corporation Ltd,Chennai Division (newly created post).
