Petitioner, Ebenezer Samuel from Madurai, in his petition that was filed in March, had stated that of late there are lots of protests and road rokos by political parties and organisations in the state and because of these large number of people are affected. People going to offices could not reach on time and so also students going to schools and colleges.Â
Even the traffic is affected to a great extent and emergency services like the ambulances had suffered because of the unannounced road blockades. As the trend of the protests has been increasing day by day, the protesters are setting a bad example for the future generation. So, such protests should be banned in the state, he contended.Â
The petitioner prayed the court to direct the police to take stringent action on the protesters and stop permitting such frequent protests in the state. On Thursday, the Judges, A Selvam, and N Authinathan, directed the Tamil Nadu DGP to take stringent action on the people, who are participating in protests and road rokos that are staged without obtaining prior permission.Â
They also directed the police to arrest people, who gather in large numbers at public places without prior permission and also not to spare children.
