No divya darsanam tokens in Tirumala during weekends

TTD Joint Executive Officer KS Sreenivasa Raju said this summer vacation has seen unprecedented pilgrim rush in hill town. “Especially the pilgrims trekking footpath routes have touched 50,000 during many weekends. 

Earlier this used to be only on Garuda Seva or Vaikuntha Ekadasi, but now even during normal days the number of devotes preferring to climb the hills is touching 35,000,” he said. To facilitate better darshan to pilgrims, we have decided to dispense with the Divya Darshan tokens from July 7 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. 

No decision has been taken on the free laddu issued to them”, he added. Later, he complimented all the departments for extending their best services to the pilgrims in their respective areas even when there is a heavy rush. 

The TTD introduced the divya darshan token system with an intention to encourage the visiting pilgrims follow the ancient tradition of reaching Tirumala on foot. The token is generally issued to pilgrims when they are nearly half-way on the footpath leading to the sacred shrine.
