Rajini set to float new party, say sources

“He is set to take the plunge when the shooting of his movie Kaala in Mumbai concludes,” sources added. The sources said that Rajini has been holding discussions with political experts, including retired IAS officials. 

At a recent meeting with his fans, the superstar had said that they should be prepared for a ‘war’ and if he entered politics, he would be truthful and would not work with people who want to make money. He had also termed his short brush with politics more than 20 years ago a “political accident” when in 1996, he supported the DMK-led alliance for the state assembly polls and had said, “If Jayalalithaa is voted back to power, even God cannot save Tamil Nadu.” 

Later, Rajinihad made amends for it by describing Jayalalithaa as a “diamond” upon her death last December. By starting a new party, he would be upsetting the BJP most as the party was ready to utilise him to gain a foothold in the state  in the 2019 elections.
