Youth clash over dispute in kabaddi match
A minor dispute in a Kabaddi match turned into a group clash and public properties were damaged at Tiruchuli in Virudhunagar district, on Saturday.

The Pongal festival at Makaliamma temple was celebrated at Tiruchuli and as a part of it, a Kabaddi competition was conducted. Teams from Virudhungar, Madurai, Theni and Dindigul districts had taken part in the event.Â
On Saturday night, there was a match between Samayanallur and Nilakottai teams. A minor dispute arose regarding the score. Members of both teams began fighting with each other and started damaging temple properties. The dispute took a bigger turn, when supporters of both the teams joined the members and began damaging vehicles, tube lights and created public nuisance.Â
Stones were pelted at the venue and two people sustained injuries. Police were informed and they rushed to the spot. The moment the police reached there, persons involved in the clash absconded from the scene and the situation was brought under control.Â
Following that, Tiruchuli police have booked a case against 20 persons and are searching for them. Police security has also been strengthened in the village and the Kabaddi tournament was called off.Â
