Symbol row forces AIADMK camps to be silent on ‘beef ban’
“With the June 17 deadline for the election commission’s verdict on the AIADMK’s two leaves symbol nearing, the AIADMK(A) and AIADMK(PTA) factions are making last minute efforts to garner as many signatures as possible from the nearly 16 lakh party functionaries” sources revealed to DTNext.

This has resulted in the AIADMK government till now not coming out with its views on the recently passed central government’s animal slaughter rule. AIADMK(PTA) faction leader and former chief minister O Panneerselvam said that the central government should not impose on the people any law which they were against. But then as he does not run the government, he can obviously speak his mind.
CM Edappadi K Palanisamy has not come out with a statement on the recent central law against slaughter of animals, as it is obvious that he does not want to get on the BJP’s wrong side.
However, sources revealed that a last minute all-out effort was being made to get maximum signatures from the nearly 16 lakh party functionaries all over Tamil Nadu.
“It is for this reason that diatribes against each other by functionaries on both sides emanate over the last few days,” a former MLA on condition of anonymity, said. “OPS district level meetings where he addresses both public and cadres have resulted in rich dividends,” he said. EPS, on the other hand has confined his touring mainly to the western belt and is yet to visit the other parts of the state.
