Story and title of Kaala is mine, claims scriptwriter
A movie script writer has approached the city police commissioner seeking action against the producers of the new Rajinikanth starrer Kaala ‘Karikalan’ movie for stealing his story title.
Chennai
Scriptwriter K Rajasekharan alias KS Nagaraja lodged a complaint with the commissioner of police charging that Valasarawalkam police failed to act on his complaint. Nagaraja claimed that he had written a story about the Karikala Chozhan and had told the story to Rajinikanth fans’ association president Sathyanarayana. He claimed that he had also met Rajinikanth regarding the script, but did not discuss it with the star.
Nagaraja said he had registered the title ‘Karikalan’ with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce on April 21, 1996 and had stopped Silver Line Film Factory from doing a movie with the same title through a court order later.
He alleged that now the production house owned by actor Dhanush, who is also the son-in-law of Rajinikanth, has decided to make a movie starring Rajinikanth with a title Kaala Karikalan, which is an infringement of copyright. He said the production house and director Ranjith had stolen his story title and the essence of his registered script. He sought action against the producer and director of the movie.
