Status quo in PT inspectors recruitment
The Madras High Court has stayed the proceedings of the Director of School Education in the direct recruitment of District Inspector of Physical Education.
Chennai
Justice R Mahadevan, before whom a batch of eight petitions came up challenging the recruitment proceedings that had commenced in May 2017 ignoring the promotees, granted status quo on direct recruitment till June 12, when the case is set to be taken up for further hearing.
All the eight petitioners were appointed as Physical Education teachers between 1985 to1990 in various schools in the state.Â
They contended that as Grade I Physical Directors they can be appointed as District Inspectors of Physical Education after 30 years of service as Physical Education teachers. But the Director of School Education through direct recruitment appointed students, who studied under them as District Inspector of Physical Education.Â
They sought the court to ensure that the post of District Inspectors of Physical Education be filled by redeployment and the same to be done by 50 per cent reservation/ representation to the petitioners who are promotees and 50 per cent through direct recruitment.
