Work should have begun two months ago: Ponnar

Lauding the State Government for initiating the desilting of waterbodies across the State, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways and Minister of State for Shipping Pon Radhakrishnan said, on Sunday, that desilting of the dam should have begun two months ago. “It has been taken up when the rains have begun,” he added.

Commenting on the success of the State government under the leadership of Edappadi K Palanisamy for 100 days, Radhakrishnan said that it was indeed an achievement. “Regulation of sand sales by the government is indeed a welcome move, but the rising prices are indeed a cause for concern,” he said.

As a result, truckers are forced to wait for days together and they are adding the waiting time to the transportation cost, he explained. He appealed to the government to address this issue immediately.

    Response:

Responding to the minister over the delay in desilting, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy said that he takes it (part of Radhakrishnan’s statement) as a compliment as it is the first time the government has initiated it in 83 years.
