In a first, the nearly nine lakh students who wrote the Class 12 examinations this year will have their results delivered to them in the form of a mobile phone message.
Chennai
The announcement was made by KA Sengottaiyan, Minister for School Education, at the Secretariat. The SMS will be sent to the mobile number that is registered with the respective schools.
The minister also announced changes to the certificate issued by the School Education Department. “From this year onwards, the certificate will have the students name printed in Tamil as well. Until now, the names of the students were printed only in English,” he added.
“Both are first of a kind initiatives by the State. We have collected the mobile numbers of the students or their family members through schools and have managed to cover as much as 95 per cent of the students who attempted the exam.
The results once uploaded to the central server will be automatically transmitted to the respective mobile numbers which the students shared with their schools. The message will contain the marks the students have secured in each paper,” the minister said.
