Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president S Thirunavukkarasar also sought a probe by the CBI into the suspicious death of the guard in Kodanad and the subsequent tragedies involving people suspected in the robbery at the estate bungalow. “A probe by the nation’s premier investigating agency will bring out the truth,” the TNCC chief said speaking to reporters in Pudukkottai.
Accusing the BJP of having engineered a split in the AIADMK, he said, “This is not fair on the part of a democratic government.
Now, the same party leading the ruling alliance at the Centre trying to reunite the AIADMK clearly indicates that it is for selfish gains.”
Coming down heavily on the statements of BJP leader H Raja against farmers, Thirunavukkarasar asked him to mind his language. He warned that Raja’s words would affect his party’s reputation. “Moreover, it has become a fashion of the rulers to brand those fighting for rights as terrorists,” the TNCC chief added.
Referring to the arrest of TTV Dinakaran on charges of attempting to bribe an EC official to get the party symbol back, he dared the Election Commission to reveal the names of the officials who were supposed to receive the money. Demanding a detailed investigation into the issue, he urged the EC to organise an all-party meet to discuss the ways to curb money power in elections, as it has become a national menace.
