Speaking at a meeting organised by the Southern India Film Chamber of Commerce on GST here, he said though there might be some losses and hitches in the beginning, as time goes, things would settle down. Manufacturing states like Tamil Nadu might face losses initially. “But it will be compensated,” he added.
Naidu also assured that he would take a delegation of film personalities from South Indian cinema to meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to address the concerns and issues regarding the impact the GST would have on the film industry. On the need to come up with small screen theatres, which could accommodate 50 to 100 people, he said the issue comes under the jurisdiction of the states.
The newly-elected president of Tamil Film Producers’ Council actor Vishal invited Venkaiah Naidu for a function to be organised soon to felicitate veteran actor Kamal Haasan for getting the Chevalier Award from the French government.
