Vijaya Baskar goes about his work unaffected
Unfazed by the political uncertainty engulfing his party and the state, Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar conducted a review meeting with the officials of various department in his native district of Pudukkottai on Saturday.
Pudukottai
He was in the epicentre of the storm that blew the RK Nagar by-election away recently. He showed none of the tension, while holding a meeting for resolving drinking water problems during summer and reviewing ongoing projects in the district.
While he was conducting the review meeting, DMK MLAs Ragupathy (Thirumayam) and Meyyanathan (Alangudi) came and handed over petitions to the district Collector Ganesh. They stated that their constituencies have been purposefully neglected in fulfilling of basic needs. The MLAs demanded an allocation of Rs 100 crore exclusively for providing drinking water to the residents of Pudukkottai district. “The previous project which was taken up to the tune of Rs 300 crore was a failure,” they charged. An unassuming Vijaya Baskar ensured them that their demands would be fulfilled. The DMK MLAs urged the Collector to inform them when such review meets happen in the future.
Meanwhile, in Coimbatore, Municipal Administration Minister S P Velumani said that the primary aim of both the AIADMK groups was to retrieve the party symbol ‘Two Leaves,’ which was frozen by the Election Commission. “Keeping aside individual priorities, all are working towards it,” he said, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the review meeting to ensure drinking water supply in the region.
