Cash for votes in RK Nagar, PMK demands dismissal of AIADMK govt
The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) today demanded dismissal of the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu to uphold democracy after the Income-Tax department unearthed distribution of cash to the tune of Rs 89 crore to the voters, leading to cancellation of the bypoll to RK Nagar scheduled for April 12.

In a statement here, PMK Founder Dr S Ramadoss said though his party was not in agreement of dismissing a government, it was necessary now to uphold democracy. Â He said the IT department has said with evidences that money has been distributed to the voters with the help of the Chief Minister and the Ministers.Â
"Since the money earned through corrupt means has been used to distribute to the voters, the AIADMK government should be dismissed", he added.Â
Apart from registration of cases under Sec 123 (1) the Representation of People's Act and under IPC sections, he also demanded disqualification of the candidates of the AIADMK Amma, AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma and the DMK following complaints of cash for votes against them.Â
Dr Ramadoss also demanded the Election Commission  to freeze the symbols of all the parties which had given cash to the voters and cancel their recognition, besides appointing officials from other states during elections, starting from the CEO to the polling booth levels.Â
