Video-conference facility for Sasikala’s FERA case hearing
AIADMK’s general secretary VK Sasikala is set to take part in the FERA case proceedings against her through video-conferencing from the Parapana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru, where she has been lodged since February 15 after being convicted in the disproportionate assets case.

A memo in this regard was filed on her behalf by her advocate before the economic offences court-I at Egmore on Wednesday.
The two-decade old case pertains to payment of transponder and uplinking charges for the erstwhile JJTV. The foreign exchange was illegally routed to the US-based Rimsat, through firms having network in Philippines and Singapore.
Though, the economic offences court in May 2015 had discharged Sasikala from the case, the Madras High Court reversed its last month. Since the proceedings have resumed in the economic offences court-I, the judge now sought to frame charges.
When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, Sasikala’s counsel sought framing of charges through video-conferencing, citing health and security issues for the AIADMK’s general secretary.
The judge then posted the matter to April 10, and asked Enforcement Directorate prosecutor to file counter-affidavit by then.
Meanwhile, the economic offences court-II hearing FERA violations and money laundering cases against Sasikala’s nephew and AIADMK deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran, yet again, disallowed his adjournment request and directed him to be present in court on April 10.
