Rasipuram youth rescued from 300-feet-deep gorge
Villagers and personnel from the fire and rescue services department rescued M Krishnakumar (21) who was stuck in a 300-feetdeep gorge at Alavai Malai near Rasipuram in Namakkal District on Tuesday.

Krishnakumar is working in a private courier firm. On Monday morning, he wanted to explore Alavai Malai and parked his two-wheeler at the foothills of Jambubali and began climbing around 8 am. After his rescue, he told reporters on Tuesday that he reached the top of the cliff around 11 am and started getting down at noon. He realised that he had lost his way around 1 pm.
“I did not get a signal on my mobile phone till 5 pm. Then I called my friend Gopalakrishnan who in turn informed my parents,” he said. Krishnakumar’s parents, alerted the police and fire and rescue services departments. On Monday a fire servicemen and five villagers set out to Alavai Malai and spotted him around 6 am on Tuesday. With the help of a rope they pulled him out of the rocky cliff around 9 am.
The rescuers started down with Krishnakumar and reached the plains around 12 noon, about a day after he got stranded.
