Maoists ask people to boycott RK Nagar by-poll
The RK Nagar by-poll has even penetrated the walls of prisons in Coimbatore and Kerala. On Tuesday, Maoists who had been lodged in the Coimbatore Central prison and Thrissur prison in Kerala were produced before the Coimbatore Court. They took the people by surprise by raising slogans asking people to boycott the by-poll to be held on April 12.

On the way to the court, Maoist leader Roopesh who was brought from the Thrissur Prison raised slogans asking voters of RK Nagar to boycott the polls. When they were escorted to their escort vehicles from the Principal District Judge after the court proceedings, Roopseh was joined by his accomplices Anoop and Veeramni.Â
They also raised slogans that election is the path of thieves and that revolution is the path of people. They had earlier raised slogans asking people to boycott the assembly election in Tamil Nadu last May.Â
They were arrested by the ‘Q’ Branch Police at Karumathampatty in Coimbatore District on May 3, 2015. On Tuesday, Principal District Judge R Pongiappan adjourned the criminal conspiracy case against them to April 17 and another case to April 26.Â
Roopesh was escorted to the Thrissur Prison, while his wife Shyna and accomplices Anoop, Veeramani and Kannan were taken to Coimbatore Central Prison.
