515 PAPSCO workers sacked by Congress government

The 515 employees were appointed by the previous N R Congress government, which also regularised their service. 

Since, the Puducherry Agro Products and Civil Supplies Corporation was facing severe financial crisis for quite some time, the employees were not paid their salary for the past 13 months. Condemning the delay in disbursal of salary, the employees conducted a series of agitations demanding the government to give their pay immediately. 

Meanwhile, the Puducherry Agro Products and Civil Supplies Corporation citing financial crunch as well as administrative reasons, cancelled the orders appointing the employees and regularising their service. The Puducherry Agro Products and Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director S Vasantha Kumar had issued orders and a copy of the same was forwarded to all the employees, government secretaries among others.
