Apart from that he launched many completed projects and laid foundation stones for nearly 8,000 projects worth Rs 1,313.20 crore in the western region.

The Collectorate was constructed at a cost of Rs 20.18 crore and the police office at Rs 6.5 crore. Many of the projects that the Chief Minister inaugurated were completed before former chief minister J Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation. Initially, officials waited for her discharge for the projects to be launched and subsequently for the government to stabilise following her demise three-and-a-half-months ago. Some of them were 6,200 buildings and projects completed at Rs 1,047.56 crore in Coimbatore district, 361 projects completed at Rs 108.21 crore in Erode district, 815 projects at Rs 89.45 crore in Tirupur district and 229 projects competed at Rs 67.98 crore in The Nilgiris.

Palanisamy inaugurated the works in Erode, Tirupur and The Nilgiris through the video conferencing mode. He also disbursed assistance and benefits to nearly 6,000 beneficiaries under various government schemes.

“Our (government’s) doors will open before people knock. We will give even before people ask,” Palanisamy said and added that the AIADMK government formed by Jayalalithaa and presently led by him was committed to the welfare of the marginalised sections of the society.

Representatives of the Athikadavu-Avinashi Project Struggle Committee gave Palanisamy a warm reception for announcing Rs 250 crore for the groundwater recharge scheme project.

Assembly Speaker P Dhanapal, Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman, Ministers KA Sengottaiyan (School Education and Sports and Youth Welfare), SP Velumani (Municipal Administration, Rural Development and Special Schemes), KC  Karuppannan (Environment) and Udumalai K Radhakrishnan (Housing and Urban Development) and MPs of this region participated.
