    Palanisamy urges farmers to end Neduvasal protest

    Reiterating that the state government had not given any permission to extract hydrocarbon in Neduvasal, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy said that the government will never allow any anti-farmer project in any form. He appealed the people of Neduvasal to withdraw their protest on March 8.

    Dedicating the completed projects and inaugurating a few new projects for the entire central districts of Tiruchy, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai, Karur, Perambalur and Ariyalur, he said, “After the farmers pointed out that their livelihood will be affected, the government will never allow the project at any time and the farmers and the people of Neduvasal need not be worried about it. Any project that affects the farmers will be stopped by the government,” Palanisamy said. Totally, the Chief minister also inaugurated 2603 projects to the tune of Rs 623.55 crore for the eight central districts.

    Compensation for farmers 

    Pointing out that Karnataka had failed to release due share of water despite the court direction, the Chief Minister said the state government encouraged the direct sowing method for which a fund of Rs 64.30 crore was allocated for samba special package through which the farmers despite the scarcity of water, could cultivate 11.92 lakh acre land for samba thaladi cultivation. Similarly, a compensation of Rs 2247 crore has been allocated to the farmers since Monday and the farmers would get the amount credited into their account by March 9.
